According to a press release from the Jackson Police Department, officer Jack Miller has been terminated due to allegations of excessive force.
The release says the incident took place March 9, and three days later, the person involved filed a formal citizens complaint at the Jackson Police Department.
Disciplinary charges were brought against Miller, and the JPD has confirmed Miller – a two-and-a-half year member of the department – was terminated following a disciplinary hearing, March 26.
The incident was captured on in-car and body cameras, but the release said the video is not being made public at this time due to an ongoing criminal investigation and prosecution involving the person who filed the complaint.
The press release states that, following the disciplinary hearing, Chief Julian Wiser determined Miller – who has indicated that he will appeal his termination to the Civil Service Commission -had violated department policy.
