Jackson Police Officer arrested for Driving Under the Influence

From the Jackson Police Department –

On September 17, 2021, a Jackson Police Officer conducting stationary traffic enforcement in the area of N. Highland and Deaderick conducted a traffic stop on a possibly impaired driver of a vehicle that was observed driving erratically.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as off-duty Jackson Police Officer, Ricky L. Allen Jr. For the purposes of objectivity, a trooper from the Tennessee Highway Patrol was summoned to conduct the investigation.

Officer Allen was given Field Sobriety Tests. He was suspected of being under the influence by the THP Trooper and was, thereby, taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Violation of the Implied Consent Law.

Immediately after his arrest and pursuant to Jackson Police Department policy, Officer Allen was put on Administrative Leave with pay pending his judicial proceedings.

On February 28, 2022, the Madison County Grand Jury indicted Ricky L. Allen Jr. for violation of TCA 55-10-401 (Driving under the influence) by the THP Trooper and was, thereby, taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Violation of the Implied Consent Law.

.Immediately after his arrest and pursuant to Jackson Police Department policy, Officer Allen was put on Administrative Leave with pay pending his judicial proceedings.

On February 28, 2022, the Madison County Grand Jury indicted Ricky L. Allen Jr. for violation of TCA 55-10-401 (Driving Under the Influence) and TCA 55-10-406 (Implied Consent).

On March 2, 2022, Officer Ricky L. Allen’s duty status with the Jackson Police Department was changed to Administrative Leave without pay pending the outcome of the prosecution.

Jackson Police Chief, Thom Corley, notes, “The Jackson Police Department holds its Officers to very high personal conduct standards, both on and off duty.

“Obviously, among these is adherence to the law in every circumstance. Suspected violations of driving laws are addressed by JPD impartially with the overall safety of our community as a priority.

“As with any other citizen, the incident involving Officer Allen was addressed according to these standards.

“Because of pending proceedings, and out of respect for Officer Allen’s right to a fair and impartial judicial process, no further specific comments involving this incident will be made by the Jackson Police Department.”
