Cedarius Cole, 19, of Jackson, has been charged with Aggravated Robbery and Forgery related to a Saturday morning robbery on the parking lot of Kroger on W. University Parkway.
On February 5 shortly before 11 a.m., a 68-year-old Jackson woman was on the parking lot of Kroger on W. University Parkway putting groceries in her car. She was approached from behind by someone placing what she thought was a handgun in her back and demanding her purse. The person then grabbed her purse and ran west. The woman was unable to get a look at the robber’s face.
On Monday morning a man attempted to cash a check at Regions Bank, 1861 N. Highland Avenue that had been stolen during the robbery. The bank teller thought that the man was acting suspicious and refused to cash the check. She contacted the robbery victim who in turn notified Jackson police.

Investigators followed up on the case and determined that Cedarius Cole was the person who attempted to cash the stolen check. Cole was arrested Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. on unrelated, outstanding Simple Assault and Criminal Trespass warrants. Upon questioning, Cole admitted to police that he was the person who had robbed the woman at Kroger on Saturday, and then he wrote the check out to himself and attempted to cash it at the bank.
Cedarius Cole was formally arraigned in Jackson City Court Wednesday morning on charges of Aggravated Robbery, Forgery and the unrelated Simple Assault and Criminal Trespass warrants. He was set a bond of $100,000 and remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
