The Jackson-Madison County school board met Wednesday night in their first meeting with upcoming superintendent Dr. Marlon King. This was the board’s first opportunity to meet with King since it was announced he would be offered a contract as school superintendent.
If the contract is successfully negotiated with Dr. King, he will be the sixth superintendent for Jackson-Madison County Schools in a little over eight years.
To orient himself to the new position, Dr. King will shadow current superintendent Ray Washington until Dr. King assumes the role of superintendent July 1st.
King told the board a focus will be on school safety. Once that’s done, Dr. King believes that test scores will come up.
