Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department begins distributing COVID-19 vaccine

Wayne Arnold, regional hospital coordinator was the first person at the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Kim Tedford, regional director of the Jackson Madison County Health Department, administered the vaccine.

The health department began distributing the COVID-19 vaccine at 10 a.m., today.

“No side effects,” Arnold said, “Everybody who gets the vaccine is monitored for 15 minutes.”

Department Staff with Direct Patient Exposure and/or Exposure to Potentially Infectious Materials
Home care staff
COVID-19 mass testing site staff
Student health providers
Staff and Residents of LTCF – Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Centers, Homes for the Aged, DIDD Residential Centers, Group Homes

HEALTH DEPARTMENT BEGINS DISTRIBUTING COVID-19 VACCINE

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department started distributing the COVID-19 vaccine Monday, Dec. 21. The health department received a shipment of 500 doses of the Moderna vaccine early Monday morning.

Individuals included in Phase 1a1 will receive this allotment of the vaccine. That includes health department staff, first responders, long term care facility residents and staff, home health staff, and others identified in Phase 1a1.

The health department will distribute the vaccine over the next few days. Individuals who get the shot during this round of vaccinations will get a second dose of the vaccine in 28 days.

The COVID-19 vaccine is not currently available for the public. We will make an announcement when we move to the next phase and more vaccine becomes available.
