A grant totaling $7,913 was awarded to the Jackson-Madison County Library, Monday, for sanitizing materials and new computers.
“We are glad to be able to bring these two grants to the Jackson-Madison County Library,” said Ed Jackson, state senator from Jackson, “One of them is from the CARES Act (2,912) … and Library Technology Grant ($5,001).”
The CARES Act provides fast and direct economic assistance for American workers and families, small businesses, and preserves jobs for American industries.
“These grants … are for all libraries – for technology, for computers, software and hardware to upgrade their technology – especially for these smaller counties, rural counties where they don’t have Internet service,” Jackson said, “A library is where students and the public in general can go to use technology that is needed.”
Dinah Harris, director of the Jackson-Madison County Library said a portion of the funds will be used to purchase 10 new computers for the computer lab.
