The Jackson Exchange Club held the dedication of the 15th annual “Flags of Freedom” display at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Nov. 15.
Each year nearly 900 flags fill the lawn of the church along the Hwy 45 Bypass for two weeks in honor and in memory of veterans, first responders, and victims of child abuse.
The national platform for the Exchange Club is child abuse prevention along with Americanism and youth scholarships. The display allows the club to raise funds for the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and other projects. Funds are raised through private flag purchases and sponsorships. This year’s fundraising total was $31,000.
The dedication ceremony was capped off with the unfurling of a 30-foot by 60-foot flag by Woodmen Life representatives. The company provides the flag for community events.
The full flag display on the lawn of the church will be up until Friday, November 18.
