Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors approve 8 resolutions during monthly meeting

The Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors approved eight resolutions during their monthly meeting at The Tennergy Center, Thursday.

 

“At today’s board meeting, the JEA directors approved eight resolutions which included equipment purchases, service audits and reviews, and rate considerations,” Monte Jones said. “One specific resolution involved leak detection for water services that will be done utilizing satellite technology for above and under ground leaks. 

 

“Also, the board recognized the gas division for its recent SOAR award. SOAR is the System Operational Achievement Recognition program that honors utilities who have achieved excellence in their daily operation.

 

“JEA was the only APGA member utility to receive the Gold Award in 2025. APGA President Dave Schryver of Washington, D.C., was on hand at the meeting and spoke about JEA’s recognition.”

 

Monte Jones is chairman of the Board of Directors, Jackson Energy Authority.

 

Resolutions authorized or approved included –

 

The purchase of one (1) 46kV Circuit Breaker for Passmore No. 2 Substation. Border States – representing General Electric – submitted a low bid of $108,000.

 

The purchase of one (1) 46kV Recloser for SR Denmark from Power Connections – representing G & W – for the amount of $267,633.

 

The purchase of Holophane Decorative Arms and Fixtures from Irby Utilities – Jackson – for the amount of $737,750.

 

A contract with Alpine Communication to complete a Joint Use Audit. Alpine Communications – Ormond Beach, Fl. – submitted a low bid of $167,350.

 

A  contract labor for installation of the Gas System Expansion 2025-2, 12-inch Steel Beltline Project & the South Highland Avenue Gas Main Replacement. Eleven (11) companies submitted bids. Mid-South Boring & Piping, LLC, Collierville, submitted a low bid of $1,171,920.

 

The purchase of AMI capable water meters for the Water Division. Badger Meter Inc. – Milwaukee, Wisconsin – submitted a bid of $691,379.57.

 

A resolution authorizing a contract for water leak detection services. Utilis, dba, ASTERRA, was awarded a contract of $200,000.

 

A resolution approving Wastewater rate adjustments and adopting amended rate schedules to be effective October 1, 2025. The rate is $1.32 per month.
