Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors introduced a new member, Bill Kipp, and approved seven resolutions during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.
Bill Kipp, a human resources manager, worked 40 years at Gerdau Long Steel North America, 801 Ameristeel Road, prior to his retirement in October, 2018.
“Today we discussed and approved several items to be purchased for use in JEAs system,” said Monte Jones, JEA’s chairman of the board, “We also heard reports on JEAs recent weather events in which team members were thanked for their hard work in restoring services. The board also discussed plans for the upcoming search for CEO to replace Jim Ferrell who will be retiring in 2023.”
The resolutions –
Approved the purchase of 4,500 feet of 750 MCM copper underground conductor. Border States Electric of Jackson submitted the low bid of $184,860.
Approved the purchase of distribution transformers.
Authorized the purchase of one new aerial truck for the Electric Division. The Board approved the purchase of the 40-foot aerial device mounted on a 2022 Ford F-550 2WD from Altec Industries for $132,919.
Approved the purchase of remote disconnect meters and communication modules.
Authorized a contract for the purchase of weathered steel transmission poles from Stuart C. Irby, Jackson, for the low bid of $187,275.
Authorized the purchase of one new all-terrain mini tree trimmer for the Electric Division from Progress Rail of Albertville, Alabama for the low bid of $187,825.
Authorized the purchase of ductile iron pipe for a water main extension to serve McLock Secure Storage development. American Ductile Iron Pipe, Birmingham, Ala., submitted the low bid of $50,475.
