Jackson Couple Indicted; Man Charged with Shooting, Girlfriend Charged as an Accessory

Jackson police presented charges today to the Madison County Grand Jury concerning a Jackson couple's involvement in a March shooting.

28-year-old Jermal Marable was indicted on charges of aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident and convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Marable's girlfriend, 20-year-old Tiffany Jones was indicted on a charge of accessory after the fact.

Marable and Jones are scheduled to be arraigned next Monday in Madison County Circuit Court.

Around 4:30 a.m. on March 5, police responded to the parking lot of 161 West University Parkway. A 44-year-old woman told officers that she was driving in the area of Fairway Boulevard and Moize Cut-Off Road when someone shot at her from a Nissan Maxima. The woman drove to the parking lot, and the Maxima followed her to the parking lot before leaving. The woman was not injured, and there was no indication that her vehicle had been struck.

About 10 minutes later, an officer saw the Maxima in the area of NorthRoyal Street and Oak Park Drive. The Maxima crashed into a utility pole near the intersection, and the driver ran away. While officers were working the crash scene, they found the gun.

Investigators developed Marable as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Around 11 a.m. on March 22, investigators with the Jackson Police Department's Gang Unit and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Marable at the Travelers Inn at 2247 North Highland Avenue in Jackson.

Marable was in the motel room with Jones. Investigators charged Jones with being an accessory after the fact because she had prior knowledge that Marable was wanted.

Jones was released from the Madison County Jail on March 23 after posting a $30,000 bond. Marable is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Marable is also wanted for failure to appear in court in Morgan County, Tenn. The underlying charge in Morgan County is aggravated assault
