A new anthem for the City of Jackson put the final touches on the Jackson Chamber’s Annual Celebration which was held Thursday at the Carl Grant Events Center at Union University.

The celebration honored businesses, industries and non-profits and the Jackson Chamber’s volunteer of the year award.

The list of winners were –
The Jackson Arts Council – Non-Profit of the Year
Performance Running of West Tennessee – Emerging Business of the Year
Stanley Black & Decker – Industry of the Year
Southwest Tennessee Development District – West Tennessee Healthcare Health & Wellness Award
Picasso Bistro Pizzeria – Business of the year (1-49 employees)
H&M Company, Inc. – Business of the Year (50+employees)
Amy West – The Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year

“I knew I had been nominated, but this still came as a surprise,” Danny Crossett who owns Performance Running of West Tennessee said. “We will have been in business two years in May, and I guess the biggest obstacle we’ve faced is getting the word out about our business – but there is no better visibility than this.”

Performance Running of West Tennessee is located at 398 Oil Well Road.

Not knowing he was going to be named the Business of the Year (1-49 employees) Picasso Bistro Pizzeria CEO James Salter still brought members of his staff with him to the celebration.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our staff,” Salter said. “The community has really embraced us over the years. I wanted to bring my guys with me and share this with them.

Salter said Picasso Bistro Pizzeria, 10 Stonebridge Blvd. – which expanded its restaurant by 1,500-square-feet two years ago – employs 30 people.

The new anthem – “Jackson’s Still My Home” – was written and produced by local talent and recorded at Jaxon Records.
Jackson’s audible marketing and celebration in song highlighted city pride while encompassing the statewide appreciation of music and local artists.
