The Jackson Beer Board will have three new members following the appointments of City Council members Russ McKelvey, Johnny Lee Dodd and Gary Pickens by Mayor-elect Scott Conger.
Pickens represents District 1, Dodd, District 2 and McKelvey, District 8.
“I’m really excited about it, and I’ll serve any way I’m asked,” said McKelvey, of Mack Pest Control, “But this one, in particular, it’s something very important to the health and safety of our community.”
McKelvey, 35, graduated from Jackson Central-Merry in 2002, and obtained his college degree from the University of Memphis.
“I look forward to working with all the business owners and operators in the area, so that we can accommodate them in what they’re doing, while making sure we keep beer out of the hands of minors the best as possible,” McKelvey said, “I’m also looking forward to working with and receiving input from the Jackson Police Department.”
Pickens, Dodd and McKelvey are replacing Charles ‘Pepper’ Bray, Harvey Buchanan and Charles Rahm.
