At age 40, Hassan Beasley is ready to begin a new chapter in his life.
The owner of H. Beasley Delights – an Ice Cream truck – Hassan doesn’t hold back when discussing his past, or his plans for the future.
“I had a troubled life … I lost my mother and sister while I was in prison,” Hassan said, “When I got out, I relocated to Jackson with my father’s side of the family, and I’ve worked hard to start my own business, trying to give back to the community and reconstruct my life.”
Hassan is originally from Chauncey, Georgia.
Hassan said he got the idea of taking the ice cream business on the road, because he liked the idea of being self-employed.
“It was one of my goals I wrote down while I was in prison,” Hassan said, “Actually, it was one of my first goals, and I decided to put my all into it.”
He offers a variety of items, and you can hear him coming with distinctive music that reminds people of a time when ice cream trucks made their way through city neighborhoods.
“I love seeing the smiles on kids faces, as well as the adults, because some have not seen an ice cream truck in a while,” Hassan said, “It just brings joy back to the community, especially with the times were are going through right now.”
Hassan works throughout Jackson, but he’s no stranger to Brownsville, Somerville and Bells.
“Actually, my auntie and one of my cousins have an ice cream truck, too,” Hassan said, “We try to network and keep everybody happy.”
Hassan will also work events. You can contact him at (731) 313-0402 or email – [email protected]
