JACKSON, TN – Charley Deal, Chairman of the Board for the United Way of West Tennessee, announced on Thursday that Eddie Lee Herndon, President and CEO of the UWWT, has resigned to accept the position of President with the United Way of the Fort Smith Area.United-Way-logo

According to their press release, Eddie Lee began working with UWWT in October of 2011. During his tenure, United Way of West Tennessee’s 2013-2014 campaign was the first campaign to enjoy an increase since 2002. The organization also received the highest Community Impact rating by United Way World Wide for 2013 and 2014, and the Women’s Leadership Council and First Ladies Luncheon was introduced to West Tennessee. Eddie Lee has also been very involved at the state level serving on the United Ways of Tennessee Board and is currently the Chair Elect.

According to Herndon “The position working with the United Way of the Fort Smith Area provides a very rare and unique opportunity for me to continue my work for the United Way while moving my wife back to her home town near her family. Erin’s mother has been ill and now Erin will be able to be there to spend precious time and help take care of her. In addition, we will be near our daughters while they are attending college.”

Herndon went on to say, “I am so very appreciative to our West TN Board for the opportunity that I have had here and cherish the relationships that have been forged. The board, staff, partner agencies, donors, and many volunteers have done a tremendous job working to improve our community every day. Since its birth in 1941, our local United Way and the thousands of volunteers and donors have helped establish, found, and fund many agencies in our community. We have a staff that tirelessly works to help those in need and I appreciate them so much for their dedication and commitment.”

“We are excited for this new opportunity for Eddie Lee and his family. His work with UWWT will forever be remembered and his presence in our organization will be missed. Eddie Lee’s ability to forge new relationships with our agency partners, companies, and volunteers has been a true blessing to our organization. We want to wish him and Erin the very best in this new chapter and for them to know we all Live United.” said Deal
