Health Department Will Offer Free Flu Shots On Oct. 15th

HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL OFFER FREE FLU SHOTS ON OCT. 15

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department will host its annual Fight Flu event on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

During this one-day event, the Health Department will provide free flu vaccines to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Health Department is located at 804 North Parkway in Jackson.

No appointment is needed to get the free flu vaccine on Oct. 15. Please enter at the rear of the building (Vital Statistics Lobby) to receive your flu shot.

“The elderly, people with chronic medical conditions, pregnant women, and young children are all at risk of severe complications if they get the flu,” said JMCHD Director Kim Tedford. “A flu vaccine is the best prevention against getting or spreading the flu.”

All Tennesseans six months and older are eligible to get the flu vaccine. Nationally, 7.5 million illnesses, 105,000 hospitalizations, and 6,300 deaths could be prevented annually if more people chose to get a flu vaccine. The flu vaccine is safe and effective and can prevent against the most common types of circulating flu viruses and the flu’s worst symptoms.

STANDARD FLU DOSE ONLY
JMCHD will be giving STANDARD FLU SHOTS ONLY during the Fight Flu ’24 event on Oct.15. Those wanting a higher-dose flu shot or a Covid-19 vaccine should make an appointment by calling 731-423-3020.

FIGHT FLU 2024
Fight Flu ’24 is the Tennessee Department of Health’s annual, large-scale preparedness exercise where medical staff and teams at county health departments statewide practice their emergency response plans using free flu vaccine for the public.
