It’s seldom a lineman receives recognition for his play after a football game, but Joe Northern, a senior center at Jackson Central-Merry proved to be an exception, following JCM’s 41-0 win over Gibson County at the inaugural game at Hub City Central, Friday, October 3.
He helped the Cougars improve to 2-5 after grading out with an 88% offensive line efficiency, four pancake blocks and zero center-to-quarterback exchanges.
Player Quote:
“I want to thank God for letting us play another game; my coaches for believing in me; and my teammates for picking up the slack when I fail. Go Cougars!” – Joe Northern, JCM center
Coaches Quote:
“Joe is smarter than the average bear. Joe is one of the top ranked kids in his class, and he’s been here since JCM re-opened. He comes everyday to go to work, and he’s a great kid who does everything he’s asked to do, and leads his group.” – Erit Turner, JCM head football coach
The Cougars face Liberty at Hub City Central, Friday, Oct. 17, following an open date, Friday, Oct. 10.
