From the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office –
On November 15, 2023, at approximately 6 a.m., Sgt. Dwan Anderson of the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office was injured in a vehicle crash on Interstate 40 at mile marker 60.
He had arrived on the scene where a vehicle had struck a guard rail (no injuries).
Sgt. Anderson had just parked his patrol vehicle in the emergency lane with his emergency lights activated, when a third motorist driving at a very high rate of speed, apparently tried to go around stopped traffic and rear ended Sgt. Anderson’s patrol vehicle.
Both Sgt. Anderson and the driver of the vehicle that struck his patrol vehicle, were airlifted to area hospitals.
All injuries are NOT life threatening.
