Services for Councilman Harvey Buchanan, age 64 of Jackson, Tennessee are incomplete.

Mr. Buchanan passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021.

Councilman Harvey Buchanan was a native of Jackson, Tennessee. Mr. Buchanan was married to Sharon Chatman Buchanan. He and his wife have two children, Veronica (Clifton) Love and Derrick Buchanan, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Jeremiah Love.

Mr. Buchanan was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as co-chairman of the Deacon Board and was President of the Male Chorus.

Mr. Buchanan graduated from Jackson Central Merry High School, Jackson State Community College with an Associate of Science degree and a graduate of Lane College with a Bachelor of Science degree

Mr. Buchanan was employed with the State of Tennessee, Workforce Investment Area 11, as the Resource Center Manager. He was formerly employed as the Program Director of Boys and Girls Club of Jackson. He formerly owned and operated Buchanan’s Exxon Service Station.

Mr. Buchanan was elected City Council Representative for District Four in May 1995.

Past member of the new City Hall Building Committee and served on the City’s Public Buildings Committee as Ex-Officio;

Served as liaison to the Jackson Transit Authority Board;
Served as liaison to the Jackson-Madison County Library Board;
