The Great Wolf Lodge highlighted the Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors monthly meeting, Thursday.
“The Great Wolf Lodge project was discussed,” Monte Jones said, “This project has been approved for incentives by the State of Tennessee with an anticipated beginning date of Fall 2022.
“Great Wolf Lodge will be finalizing plans and the city will then begin working with them to provide access to the property.”
Monte Jones is the chairman of the Board of Directors at Jackson Energy Authority.
The $150 million Great Wolf Lodge – a family resort – is scheduled to offer a 300-room hotel, with an indoor water park, restaurants, arcades and spas, and would create 500 jobs — 250 full-time and 250 part-time positions. An additional 500 construction jobs would be filled over the course of the project.
Great Wolf Lodge is looking at a roughly 40-acre site at the Tiger Jones Technology Park off Interstate 40 at exit 85 near the Ballpark at Jackson and West Tennessee Sportsplex.
Construction on the project has been moved to the second- or third quarter of 2022.
“JEA and Great Wolf Lodge have been working together on the proposed infrastructure to serve the facility” Jim Ferrell said, “We are looking forward to having Great Wolf Lodge in Jackson and this will be a great customer for JEA.”

The board also approved resolutions for the purchase of Remote Disconnect Meters and Communications modules for the electric division that provide for quicker service when starting or stopping power for customers.
“These meters also allow for remote reading of meters for monthly billing,” Monte Jones said, “Also, proposals for contract crews to assist the electric division in various projects throughout the year, tree trimming services and a professional engineering contract for gas system improvements were all approved.
“The future gas system improvements will expand the high-pressure outer loop for services in Madison County.”
Updates on recent storm events that affected portions of the electric system and some potential delays with delivery of various supplies used by the departments were also presented.
“JEA continues to monitor these delivery times and plan accordingly,” Jones said.
