According to a press release from Jody Pickens, District Attorney General, 26th Judicial District, on July 2, 2018, the Madison County, Tennessee Grand Jury indicted Marcus Deangelo Graves, 29 years of age, of Jackson, Tennessee, with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Graves had a prior felony conviction for Aggravated Robbery in 2007 from Hardeman County, Tennessee, Circuit Court.
The indictment was the result of an incident that occurred in the 800 block of Lambuth Boulevard on January 3, 2018, wherein Graves was arrested on outstanding warrants at his home and in the process was found to be in possession of a Jennings .380 caliber handgun.
On April 1, 2019, the Defendant was convicted after a one day trial. He was fined $15,000 by the jury and on May 6, 2019, was sentenced to 10 years to serve in the Tennessee Department of Corrections by Madison County, Tennessee Circuit Court Judge Roy B. Morgan, Junior.
“This sentence should serve as a notice that we will vigorously prosecute convicted felons who continue to violate our laws by possessing firearms.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney General Bradley F. Champine. It was investigated by the Jackson Police Department Gang Unit, with case officers being Investigator Ashley Robertson and Investigator Michael Byrd.
