#GivingTuesday731 – Toyota Tennessee donating $20,000 to United Way of West TN

JACKSON, Tennessee – Toyota Tennessee, formerly Toyota Bodine, is kicking off the holiday season by spreading cheer on #GivingTuesday731, a day of generosity celebrated December 1st.

According to a press release from Leah Almeling – analyst Toyota Motor North America Corporate Communications – the United Way of West Tennessee will receive $20,000 to support Snack Backpacks, Meals on Wheels and local counseling services. The donation brings Toyota’s total community investment in non-profits across West Tennessee to over $400,000 in 2020.

The $20,000 grant will provide support for over 3,000 people across West Tennessee:

Snack Backpacks – As so many students are still required to learn virtually, many of them miss the meals that their school provides. This funding will help deliver 1,845 Snack Backpacks to students in need.

Meal on Wheels – Seniors have been detrimentally impacted by COVID-19 and highly dependent on the delivery of meals. Funding will help deliver 1,500 meals to seniors in the community.
Counseling – There has been a significant need for counseling and mental health services due to the isolation created by the pandemic. Toyota funding will provide counseling to 50 people, for a total of 200 counseling hours.

“We are so grateful to partner with Toyota. They consistently provide vital support to our community to meet critical needs and improve our quality of life here in West Tennessee,” said Matthew Marshall, President and CEO of United Way of West Tennessee. “#GivingTuesday731 has brought us together with 90 nonprofits for one fundraiser. Alongside Toyota, we’re standing together, serving together!”

“There’s no better time to support the spirit of giving, when so many people are still struggling with the challenges of 2020,” said Donna Orf, General Manager, Administration, Toyota Tennessee. “Acts of generosity change lives and inspires others to pay it forward, creating positive change. This is at the core of Toyota’s values.”
