After making their biggest comeback of the season, the Jackson Generals extended their win streak to a season best five straight and pulled to within one game of second place Tennessee in the Wild Card race in the Southern League’s North Division.
Drew Muren (2-1, 5.40 ERA) pitched two scoreless innings in relief, and helped his cause when he singled and scored the winning run on an Evan Marzilli base hit with two outs.
Trailing the Mississippi Braves 6-1 after two innings, the Generals (10-9, 47-42) rallied to tie the game at 7-7 in the seventh on a single by Dawel Lugo that produced one run; a Dominic Leyba double that accounted for two runs, and a triple by Stewart Ijames that scored Leyba.
The Generals and Braves play the final game of their four-game series at 7 p.m., at Trustmark Park in Pearl Mississippi, then return home for the first of five against the Montgomery Biscuits at 6:05 p.m., Thursday, for ‘Thrifty Thursday,’ which features $2 deals on general admission tickets, hot dogs, popcorn, soda, beer, ice cream and fun zone access.
