Grand slam home runs by Kelly Dugan and Rudy Flores and a solo shot by Colin Walsh led the Jackson Generals to a 17-5 win over Montgomery, Friday, at Riverwalk Stadium.
Dugan’s home run – part of a five-run first inning – was his ninth this season.
Flores delivered his seventh home run for the season in the fourth inning, and Walsh produced the final Jackson run for the evening when he circled the bases for the eighth time in the ninth inning.
Alex Young (3-2, 3.67 ERA) pitched seven complete innings for the Generals.
He allowed four runs (all earned) and eight hits, walked three and registered six strikeouts.
The win returned the Generals to first place overall in the Southern League’s North Division.
Jackson leads second place Tennessee by one-half game; Chattanooga by 1.5 games and Montgomery by two full games.
The Generals and Biscuits continue their six-game series at Montgomery, at 6:35 p.m., today, when Taylor Clarke (4-1 2.25 ERA) faces Montgomery’s Mike Franco (3-0, 2.06 ERA).
