Alex Young pitched six shutout innings helping the Jackson Generals end a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 win at Birmingham, Friday.
Young (7-5, 4.31 ERA) struck out eight and pitched hitless baseball for the first three innings.
Offensively, the Generals ended a 22-inning scoring drought in the fifth, when a two-out single by Jamie Westbrook scored Angel Franco, who opened the inning with a double.
Kevin Cron would score what would be the game winner in the top of the seventh when Victor Reyes (2-for-4) produced a bases loaded sacrifice fly.
The Generals send Joel Payamps (3-4, 6.26 ERA) to the mound to face Spencer Adams (7-8, 3.80 ERA), at 6:30 p.m., at Regions Field, today.
