On April 24, 2019, Chief Deputy Clerk Gina Petty of the Madison County Clerk’s Office, processed two transactions for a customer who presented an executed Power of Attorney from the owner of the vehicles.
On November 2, 2020, Chief Deputy Clerk, Gina Petty, was arrested for allegedly violating two counts of TCA 55-5-116.
September 2019, Officer (Edwin) Wilkes with the Tennessee Highway Patrol Criminal Investigation Division, advised Madison County Clerk Fred Birmingham that they were investigating some transactions processed by Chief Deputy Clerk Petty.
County Clerk Birmingham filed a “Fraud Reporting Form” with the Tennessee Comptroller of Treasury making them aware of the allegations.
An investigation was conducted by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury. County Clerk Birmingham was told the investigation found NO CONDUCT on the part of Chief Deputy Clerk Petty that required further action by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury or the Madison County Clerk’s Office.
