Four Jackson convenience stores issued maximum fines by Beer Board

The Jackson Beer Board issued maximum fines to four Jackson convenience stores during a Show Cause meeting at the Jackson City Council chambers, Tuesday.

Love’s Truck Stop, 2050 U.S. Highway 70 East, Food Mart, 1215 Whitehall St., Indigo’s, 1625 East Chester St., and T-Mart, 1302 N. Highland Ave., were levied $2,500 in fines for the sale of alcohol to minors.

“We decided to be consistent with the fines, and $2,500 is the maximum,” said Charles Rahm, chairman of the Jackson Beer Board. “We’re trying to make a point with businesses, and hopefully they will get the word out.”

Love’s Truck Stop did not have a representative at the meeting and they were given seven days to pay the fine or have its alcohol license suspended for 30 days.

Store owners, Abdoalfath Alkaifi, Food Mart; Bobbye Singh, Indigo’s, and Ali Dardas, T-Mart, were ordered to pay their fines in 10 days or have its alcohol license suspended for 30 days.
