Fort Campbell Commander’s Home Being Repurposed

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) – Fort Campbell is dedicating a Survivor Outreach Services building as part of Military Survivor Appreciation Week.

Fort Campbell Parrish HouseThe Fort Campbell Parrish House will become the Survivor Outreach Services building. It was built in 1833 and is a plantation-style farmhouse that has been home to all commanding generals of the 101st Airborne Division since 1947.

The post on the Kentucky-Tennessee line says Maj. Gen. James McConville, as one of his final decisions as commanding general of the 101st, donated the building to Survivor Outreach Services and families it supports.

Fort Campbell says the focal point of the home will be the Hall of Remembrance, where portraits of fallen service members will be displayed.

The house is located at 5001 Screaming Eagle Drive near Gate 4.

The Parrish House is considered a historic building by the U.S. Army and any renovations and upgrades had to be coordinated through the Army and the Kentucky State Historic Preservation Office. The focal point of the home will be the Hall of Remembrance, a room displaying portraits of fallen service members.

The dedication is set for Friday morning.

The ceremony, featuring guest speaker Brig. Gen. Mark Stammer, acting senior commander of the 101st Airborne Division, will take place on Friday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m.
