Former Memphis Officer Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A former Memphis police officer who was charged with trying to buy drugs from an undercover officer has pleaded guilty.

Joshua McCann pleaded guilty in Humboldt court to possession of schedule II drugs, according to Humboldt court officials.

McCann was arrested after police say the former Memphis cop tried to buy hydrocodone from an undercover officer in the Walmart parking lot.

According to police McCann had a loaded handgun, 38 pills and digital scales in the car he was driving at the time of the arrest.

Possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia charges were dismissed.

Court officials say McCann will have to pay $2,000 in fines and court costs. He also will be placed on supervised probation.  McCann’s 11 month and 29 day sentence was suspended for two days time served.
