Former general manager of Super Bowl Champion New York Giants will be guest speaker at Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame

Jerry Reese, who served as vice president and general manager for the New York Football Giants from 2007 to 2017 – winning Super Bowls XLII and XLVI – will be the guest speaker when the 36th Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame is held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, April 14.

A 1986/88 graduate of the University of Tennessee Martin, Reese played four years with the Skyhawks (Pacers) football team establishing himself as one of the top defensive backs in UTM history.

Following his playing days, Reese stayed with the program as a student coach, graduate assistant and full-time coach. He was named assistant head coach in 1993.

In 1995, Jerry was inducted into the UT Martin Athletics Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2009, Jerry and his wife, Gwen, also a UTM alum, are co-founders of Team4Success, a nonprofit foundation with a mission of empowering students in his hometown of Tiptonville and Lake County and the surrounding areas. Their focus is on education and development of leadership skills among the young people of the region.

John Collins, Tommy Dean, AJ Merriweather, James Parker and Jennifer Moore-Wilkerson are the newest members of the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame.

The five will become the 36th class inducted when ceremonies are held at 6:30 p.m., April 14, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Mike and Pam McCarty will be the recipients of the 2022 Billy Schrivner Distinguished Service Award.
