JACKSON Tenn (April 15, 2015) – A Jackson man has been charged with Criminal Simulation for passing allegedly passing a forged business check at a North Highland Ave. convenience store.
According to police, on February 26, 2015 at approximately 2:00 PM a white male entered North Highland Express located at 2325 North Highland Ave. in Jackson. Authorities say the subject presented a check from Julia’s herbals and gifts made out to Michael Eatmon to be cashed for $230. The clerk cashed the check and gave the man $230
The clerk told police the man came back to the business about 15 minutes later and attempted to pass a second check that was similar to the first. This time the clerk became suspicious and started asking questions. The clerk told police the man then left the business without the second check or any more money.
The store employee did get the license plate number off of the van that the subject was driving. Police say the plate number comes back to Lee Michael Swift.
According to the warrant, on April 10 the clerk saw photo of Lee Michael Swift and recognize the man as the subject as the same person who passed the check.
Lee Michael Smith is charged with Criminal Simulation. Â He remains in the Madison County Jail
