Ford officially names roads within BlueOval City campus; each has historical significance

The Ford Motor Company has officially named the roads within the BlueOval City campus, and each road name has historical Ford significance.

Road names include:

American Way

A nod to 1 American Rd., the address of Ford World Headquarters, located in Dearborn, MI

Fairlane Street

Fair Lane was the estate of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford and his wife, Clara Ford, located in Dearborn, MI

The Fairlane nameplate was used for seven different generations of vehicles, sold between the 1955 and 1970 model years in North America

Piquette Drive

The Piquette Plant produced the first Ford model T and is the oldest automotive plant open to the public. Built in 1904, it was Ford Motor Company’s first purpose-built factory and still operates as a historic museum today.

Willow Run Street

Named after Ford’s Willow Run Bomber Plant, a major force in the Arsenal of Democracy, the term given to the industrial powers that came together to support the Allied war effort in World War II.

The plant’s mile-long assembly line churned out nearly 9,000 B-24 Liberators – one every hour, or half of all the B-24s built during the war. At peak production, Willow Run employed 42,000 workers, up to one-third of them pioneering women industrial workers.

BlueOval City Drive

Named after the six-square mile ecosystem that includes Ford’s next electric truck assembly plant, a BlueOval SK battery plant and a supplier park. BlueOval City will produce Ford’s next all-new electric truck and advanced batteries for future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles and will create nearly 6,000 jobs in West Tennessee.

Battery Park Drive

Named after the BlueOval SK Battery Park, located in Glendale, Kentucky. BlueOval SK Battery Park is a $5.8 billion investment by Ford and SK On to build two all-new BlueOval SK battery plants, which will create 5,000 BlueOval SK jobs in Central Kentucky, building batteries for future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles.

Construction is on schedule at BlueOval City with production slated to begin in 2025.
