For the love of Jackson – campaign urges locals to shop at home during holiday season

Visit Jackson, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center and the Jackson Chamber are campaigning and encouraging locals to shop locally during the holiday shopping season.

Shop, dine and play inside Madison County and you could win a grand prize package. Post a photo of you and your squad shopping to Facebook or Instagram, use the hashtag #LoveofJackson and you will be entered for the $500 grand prize drawing.

Funds for the campaign are courtesy of BancorpSouth, Bank3, Centennial Bank, Community Bank, First Citizens National Bank, FirstBank, Foundation Bank, INSOUTH Bank, Leaders Credit Union, Regions Bank, Simmons Bank and West TN Bank – a Division of Decatur County Bank.

“It’s a great campaign,” said Lori Nunnery, executive director Visit Jackson Tennessee, “We will be putting out three commercials into the region – essentially promoting local businesses.”
Nunnery said the first commercial will feature restaurants.

“After that, we will be featuring different entertainment spots in our community, and then we will be ending up with our retail component,” Nunnery said, “That’s part of the work the banks coming together allowing us to do and expand to a much greater level than we normally would.

That’s the first component – the second component of the campaign is to shoot a video in front of their business showing the ‘Love of Jackson.'”

“The consumer of the campaign … they come to your business, and they take a picture of themselves – and they take it and hashtag (#) it for the ‘Love of Jackson,’ and they post it – Facebook, Instagram,’ and then we, through the magic of technology count those and two drawings – one Nov. 17 – right before ‘Black Friday’ – and the other Dec. 19 – right before the last week of shopping before Christmas for a cash prize.”

Nunnery said the amount of prize money might go up depending on the final level of contributions.

“We want people to realize the importance of shopping in our community – supporting those businesses that support us daily,” Nunnery said, “This campaign is a partnership of many different entities.”
