BROWNSVILLE, TENNESSEE — Five Haywood High School Tomcat football players have been selected to the Class 4A Football All-State team by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
According to a press release from Gabe Hart – Chief Communications Officer – Haywood County Schools – Jamari Person (WR-SR), Cordero Walker (QB-JR), Cam Miller (HB-SO), Tyler Williams (DB – SR), and Bishop Owens (DT-JR) were each recognized as one of the top players in the state of Tennessee based on their performance during the 2022 season.
Each player made a unique impact that helped the Tomcats to another undefeated regular season and a deep play-off run that ended in a thrilling game against Pearl-Cohn.
“These players put standard over feelings every day, day after day,” said Tomcat Football Coach
Chris Smith. “This award distinguishes these young men from every other high school player in the state; these kind of awards are not given to just anyone.”
Jamari Person has verbally committed to play football for Colorado State – an NCCAA Division 1
program in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Tyler Williams has yet to announce his future plans.
Cordero Walker, Cam Miller, and Bishop Owens return to the Tomcats next year for another run at a state title.
The five selections were the highest number of players selected from one single team in the state of Tennessee.
