Firehouse Subs Kicks Off Campaign To Save Lives

JACKSON Tenn (July 9, 2015) — Madison County Sheriff’s Department awarded life-saving equipment from Firehouse Subs.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will award 15 Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) and accessories to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department at a 2:00 o’clock ceremony.

The donated equipment will allow deputies to provide life-saving assistance if an individual goes into cardiac arrest.

The donation is the first of a new HeartBeat campaign to provide AED’s to every first responder’s car in Jackson and Madison County.

HeartBeat was inspired by WNWS 101.5 FM with the aim of dramatically improving the success rate of reviving victims of heart attacks.

The goal is to raise contributions thru local fund-raising events and grants, like the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. That money will be used to buy portable defibrillators and provide training for every officer who might be faced with a life or death situation.

Joining WNWS 101.5 FM as partners of the HeartBeat campaign are: Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist, Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris, Police Chief Chris Wiser, Jackson Fire Chief Max Stewart, Sheriff John Mehr, and Madison County Fire Chief Eric Turner.

Chief Wiser and Sheriff Mehr say patrol officers often reach cardiac arrest victims long before an ambulance arrives and the AED will provide the tool to save lives.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is the first to step forward with this donation to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. These 15 defibrillators are the first toward fulling that need.

WNWS plans to organize fund-raising events but is also counting on others, like Firehouse Subs to join in the community wide effort to save lives.

For more information contact Larry Wood, WNWS station manager, at 423-8316.

Firehouse Subs will make it’s presentation to Sheriff John Mehr at the Firehouse Subs location on Vann Drive.

The public is invited to attend.
