It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Butler, one of our own here at News Talk 101.5FM. Jimmy was a true icon in sports broadcasting, bringing his love for sports to life every Saturday on News Talk’s Saturday Sports Roundup alongside Joe Holloway. His passion, insight, and unmatched energy graced the airwaves, captivating listeners weekend after weekend.
For years, Jimmy shared his unique perspectives on all things sports, leaving an indelible mark on our station and the loyal audience who tuned in to hear him. Beyond his incredible work behind the microphone, Jimmy was a cherished friend, mentor, and inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His dedication to his craft and his gift for connecting with listeners made him a beloved personality in our community.
As Joe Holloway fondly recalls:
“Jimmy loved our station, staff, and the listeners to the Saturday Sports Roundup and sitting in to substitute with me on The Cheap Seats. He was an original member of the ‘First Team in Sports’ that hosted Sports Talk back in the 1990s at WNWS 101.5FM.”
We extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy’s family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Jimmy’s incredible spirit and contributions to our station will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.
