The public is invited when a Fall Plant Sale is held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., today, at The UT Gardens, which is part of the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center at 605 Airways Boulevard in Jackson.
According to a press release, shoppers will find an array of plants ideal for this region, including trees, shrubs, and a wide selection of pansies and other plants for winter seasonal interest.
UT Gardens’ staff and local Master Gardeners will be on hand to help out with plant or siting questions.
“Autumn is a great time to revive a lackluster landscape,” says Jason Reeves, curator of the UT Gardens, Jackson. “The plant sale will be a great place to find inspiration and expert advice.”
The annual plant sale is typically book-ended by garden talks delivered by plant experts, but the presentations have been canceled for 2017 due to pending renovations of the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center auditorium.
Organizers plan to resume the garden lectures in 2018.
The UT Gardens include plant collections located in Knoxville, Jackson and Crossville.
Designated as the official botanical garden for the State of Tennessee, the collections are part of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, with a missionto foster appreciation, education and stewardship of plants through garden displays, educational programs and research trials.
The gardens are open during all seasons and free to the public.
