Every Vote Counts, Election Day, What You Need To Know

 

May 5, 2015 JACKSON MUNICIPAL CITY  ELECTION

May 5th, is Election Day for the City of Jackson.  Voters must be residents of the City of Jackson, meaning that the voter must live within the city limits, in order to vote.  Voters should be prepared to show a photo ID issued by the State of Tennessee or the U.S. Federal government.  IDs such as drivers licenses issued by other states will not be accepted.

There are five candidates for the contested Mayor’s race

Jerry Gist

Charlie Motton

Tim York

 

City Council

There are three contested City Council races.

District Two – Johnny Dodd, incumbent, Corliss Mercer-Johnson

District Three – Ernest Brooks II, incumbent, and Robert Curlin

District Nine – David Cisco, incumbent, and Jerry Truelove

Voter Information

Election officials want to remind voters that you must live within the city limits in order to be eligible vote.

One precinct, the West Tennessee Center for Research and Education, located at 605 Airways Blvd and often referred to as “The Ag Center” or “The Experiment Station” is undergoing extensive remodeling and is not usable for this election.  Those voters will vote at the Madison County Agricultural Complex Auditorium located at 311 North Parkway for this election only.  This is the same site used for early voting.

All other voters should report to vote at their assigned Election Day polling place.  The polling place is listed on the voter’s most current voter registration card.

Only residents of the city of Jackson can vote Tuesday. Voters will only be allowed to vote at the precincts listed on their voter registration cards. The only exception is 7-1 where voters will vote at the Madison County Agricultural Complex Auditorium. Polls will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

PHOTO ID LAW
Voters who vote in person during early voting or on Election Day MUST present a photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government. These IDs may be current or expired. Examples include:

~TENNESSEE drivers license with your photo
~TENNESSEE Department of Safety photo ID
~TENNESSEE gun carry permit with your photo
~United States Military photo ID
~United States Passport
~Any other photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government.

College student IDs and photo IDs issued by cities, counties and other states will not be accepted.
