Empire 8 Theatre bringing new movie concept to Jackson

During dinner Wednesday evening, Phil Zacheretti asked a waitress at a Jackson restaurant about her experience when she takes in a movie.

When he was told she generally takes her family to Corinth, Mississippi to view a movie, Zacheretti, president/CEO Phoenix Theatres Entertainment, said he believes that will change after he announced his organization will operate a luxury, eight-screen movie theatre in Columns II, between Gander Outdoors and FFO Furniture, on Vann Drive.

Construction on Empire 8 Theatre is expected to be complete by early February.

“We see the Empire 8 Theatre in Jackson being a 21st Century-type Theatre,” Zacheretti said during a press luncheon and conference at the Hilton Garden Inn, Thursday. “It’s going to have amenities people not just in Jackson, but the county and the surrounding counties have never seen before,” Zacheretti said. “Electric reclining seats in every auditorium … every seat is assigned … you pick out the actual seat you want to sit in.”

Besides the electric reclining seats, attached trays will be available for snacks, appetizers, or the beverage of your choice.

Zacheretti said the new electric reclining seats are not only the latest trend in movie theatres around the country – they are the most comfortable seats among any area theatre, which will help assure the movie going experience will be a pleasurable one.

The theatre will have seating for 700, and parking for 500.

The “Empire Theatre X-perience” will be the only auditorium in the Jackson area to offer recliners with armrests that will raise between two recliners to allow more space between the customers.

The “ETX” auditorium features the only NEC laser projection system in the state of Tennessee.
The 11.1 premium digital sound system will feature immersive surround sound, including ceiling speakers.

The “ETX” auditorium will offer both 2D and 3D films.

The screens will be wall to wall and the digital sound system will be of the highest quality.

“We are excited about bringing a high-quality theatre experience back to West Tennessee,” said Paul Taylor, Project Manager/Designer at Gary A. Taylor Investment Company. “The Empire Theatre will provide top-of-the-line seating and projection, while focusing on providing customers the kind of movie going experience that West Tennesseans have been asking for.”
