Eldridge & Shaw Win State House Races…Final Madison County Totals

Jackson, TN…Republican Incumbent Jimmy Eldridge will retain his seat as representative
for District 73, .

According to final but unofficial results Eldridge received 61 percent of
the vote in Thursday’s Republican state primary.  Glen Gaugh, received 38
percent of the vote.

Angie Byers will retain the Register of Deeds office.  Byers was appointed
to the office by Madison County Commission earlier this year

Byers received 6976 (58 %) votes.  Mitzi Price Merriweather, picked up
3945 (33%) votes.

District 80 incumbent Johnny Shaw won the Democratic primary for the House
of Representatives seat.   Shaw won the district which is comprised of
portions of Hardeman County and Madison County.  Shaw received with 2,843
total votes  His opponent, Ernest Brooks II, received of 1,126 votes.

There were only two contested races for  the Jackson-Madison County School
Board

Kevin Alexander won the District 2 with 62.5 percent of the vote.

Wayne Arnold won the District 3 seat with 71.7 percent of the vote.

Both were races for open seats.
