With social distancing measures in place, the Madison County Election Commission saw 435 ballots cast today – 246 voters cast ballots in the Republican Primary, while 181 votes were cast in the Democratic Primary.
Eight voters choose to vote only in the county general election. Prior to the start of early voting, 321 absentee ballots had been cast and 75 voters had voted at nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Madison County.
In total, 831 ballots have been cast in this election with 376 voters casting ballots in the Republican primary and 425 voters casting ballots in the Democratic primary. 30 voters did not participate in a primary and voted in the county general election only.
Early voting will continue through August 1. Early voting hours are from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., on weekdays and from 9 a.m., until noon on Saturdays.
Early voting is held at the auditorium of the Madison County Agricultural complex located at 311 North Parkway in Jackson. Election officials encourage you to read the sample ballot before you arrive to vote and to have your photo ID ready to show when you enter the voting place. The sample ballot and other information can be seen at the election commission website madisonelection.com.
