JACKSON Tenn (April 30, 2015) – Voters are turning out in record numbers to cast a ballot for the next mayor of Jackson.
5 candidates are vying for the seat to be the leader of the city for the next four years
676 voters cast ballots on Wednesday in early voting for the City of Jackson municipal election.
As the last day approaches, the total of early and absentee voters stands at 6,136 which is slightly over 14% of the 43,109 registered voters in the city.
Only registered voters who live within the city limits of Jackson are eligible to vote in this election. The City of Jackson’s charter does not provide for non-resident property rights voting, so even voters who own businesses, rental property and other real estate within Jackson are not eligible to vote in this election
The last day of early voting is Thursday, April 30th. Early voting hours will be from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. The early voting site is located at 311 N. Parkway in Jackson. Voting is held in the auditorium at the Madison County Agricultural Complex.
