Jackson, Tenn.- Local celebrity Doris “Cousin Tuny” Freeman passed away late Friday night. She was 91 years old. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
Freeman created the character “Cousin Tuny” and was featured on the radio singing and tap dancing in the 1930’s. Later Freeman starred in the popular children’s local TV show “The Cousin Tuny Show” which aired until 1968.
Doris Freeman was involved in many charitable efforts throughout West Tennessee, including her involvement in the telethon for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
Freeman was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame in 2014.
