December 2013 County Unemployment Rates Released

(January 31, 2014) Nashville, Tenn.- The Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Agency released the county unemployment statistics this week.

 

These statistics detail the change in rates over the past month, and compare the numbers from the previous year. 

 

The numbers released from Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development this week detail the statistics from December of 2013.

 

Chester County had the lowest unemployment rates of the five discussed in this article.

 

Chester County’s unemployment rate is 6.8%, which is down .3% from November and 1.2% from December of 2012.

 

Crockett County had an unemployment rate of 9.6%. That places higher than the November rate of 9.4%. The rate is lower than the 10.2% rate of December of the previous year.

 

Gibson County has the highest unemployment rate and the fourth highest in the state. 

 

Their unemployment rate stands at 11.3%, which is down .4% from November of 2013. The rate at the same time in 2012 was 11.5%

 

Henderson County had their December 2013 rate of 10.2%, which is unchanged from the November rate. The December 2012 rate was 10.6%.

 

Madison County had an unemployment rate of 7.5%. That’s down from the 7.8% of November of 2013 and December of 2012.
