Death of Titans Kicker Rob Bironas Takes Strange Turn

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— The death of former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas has taken a strange turn. Bironas, 36, was found dead at the scene of a Nashville car crash on Saturday night. Initial reports say that Bironas likely lost control of his 2009 model GMC Yukon Denali and that neither alcohol nor drugs played a part in the crash.

Yesterday, The Tennesseean reported that an unusual 911 call came in from the location of Bironas’s accident. You can click here to listen to the 911 audio of the event via The Tennesseean, in which a woman claims that a man in an SUV similar to that of the former Titans player tried to run her family off the road. The woman is audibly shaken, calling the man “dangerous” and “crazy or something.”

The woman says her family let the man go past their vehicle, before stumbling upon the smoking wreckage of Bironas’s SUV several miles down the road. She was unable to identify whether or not the two vehicles were the same.

Bironas played for the Titans from 2005-2013 and was released last March. He concluded his career as the Nashville-based NFL team’s second leading scorer, having amassed 1,032 points during his stint with the team.

Nashville police say that the kicker’s wife—Rachel Bradshaw, the daughter of NFL legend Terry Bradshaw—told Bironas goodnight around 10:30 p.m. Bradshaw told officials she expected Bironas was going to bed. The Nashville 911 call came in at 11:03 p.m.
