Daryl Hubbard, Jackson City Court Clerk, picks up petition for Mayor’s race

Daryl Hubbard has not made a formal announcement about his intentions, but after he picked up a petition at the Madison County Election Commission, Thursday, it all but appears he will enter the race for Mayor of the City of Jackson in May.

Hubbard was elected Jackson City Court Clerk in 1998, and is serving his sixth consecutive term.

Besides Hubbard, five others have either declared or pick up petitions.

They are – Dr. Jerry Woods, an educator, Jimmy Eldridge, a retired State Representative from Jackson, and Scott Conger, president/CEO of the United Way of West Tennessee, have announced they will seek the position of Mayor of Jackson.

Mark Johnstone a local businessman and former Chairman of the Madison County Commission, and Dr. Vicky Foote, Jackson City Councilwoman, have not announced they are running for the position of Mayor of the City of Jackson.

Candidates have until noon, February 21 to turn in their petition for the Mayor’s race, which will be held May 7.
