Dancing With The STARs set for Oct. 17 at Jackson Fairgrounds

You may have seen the popular ABC television show, Dancing with the Stars, but did you know there is a similar show in Jackson, Tennessee?

According to a press release, for the fourth year, the STAR Center presents Dancing with the STARs – Jackson style.

Every year, since the first competition in 2016, the show has sold out. Local celebrities perform a
choreographed dance routine in front of a panel of judges and a room full of their friends and family.

After learning to ballroom dance and rehearsing their intense routines, they pull it all together to compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy. The production and attendance have grown from 160 attendees and five teams to 850+ attendees and ten teams.

“It is one of the hottest tickets in town,” said Dave Bratcher, STAR Center President. “There are many corporate sponsors to recognize, including our Presenting Sponsor, Leaders Credit Union.”

This event is successful because our West Tennessee community does what it has done for the last thirty-one years, support the work of the STAR Center.

“Without donors, we would not be able to serve those in our community who are searching for hope,” said Cassidy Sheppard, STAR Center Marketing/Events Manager.

Whether STAR is serving babies who are born addicted or helping seniors live independently, the mission of the STAR Center is what drives the teams to fundraise and prepare for the competition. We consistently hear how our dancers have pushed through what they thought were limitations.

Donations make it possible for people that come to the STAR Center to turn their challenges into opportunities and rise above their circumstances.

If you are one of the 850 with a ticket, we look forward to seeing you on October 17 at the Jackson
Fairgrounds.

There are several ways you can participate in Dancing with the STARs from watching it on
Channel 6 to attending our watch party. Jackson Energy Authority will broadcast the show LIVE on JEA’s Channel 6 and will live-stream it on eplustv6.com.

Also, Jackson’s own brewery and event center, Hub City Brewing will host the official Dancing with the STARs watch party and after-party. The grand champions of the Dancing with the STARs mirror ball trophies will join the celebration after the show.

All attendees and viewers will have a chance to vote for their favorite couple by texting to give during the show. Details will be available the evening of the show. With 2019 being the biggest year to date, we at the STAR Center are overwhelmed and thankful for the support from the Jackson community.
