Dan Reiche, who serves as Assistant Group Manager at Bodine St. Louis, has been promoted to Group Manager (General Manager) at the Bodine plant in Jackson.
He will replace Shawn Daly, who is transferring to Group Manager – On-Site Partners (OSP) at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato (TMMGT) in Mexico.
“I’ve been with Bodine for 23 years,” Dan said, “I started there as an engineer on a machining line and worked my way through the company.”
Married – wife Cindy, daughter Marie – Dan has 25 years of automotive manufacturing experience, including 18 years at Bodine Troy and the last five years at Bodine St. Louis.
“My assignment before this was at our St. Louis plant, the original Bodine foundry.”
Dan will have overall Plant Management responsibility in Jackson, including daily management of production operations for HPDC cylinder blocks and AT cases/housings. This requires oversight of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and New Projects, among others.
“This assignment really came by complete surprise,” Dan said, “Until the beginning of June, I was slated to rotate to the (Huntsville) Alabama facility.
“With Shawn going to his next assignment, this position opened, and I’ve transferred here for approximately two years, but with Toyota nothing is set in stone.”
Dan, a 1994 graduate from the University of Missouri Rolla, holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
His roles have included PE, Maintenance Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Support.
“My background is technical,” Dan said, “Being an engineer, I like systems, but I can’t shoulder all the activity. We want to build systems, we want to develop people here – build the next generation – you have to have a good pipeline all the way through the organization so that it can survive.
“In a nutshell, we have all the projects going on here, the expansion, new product lines coming in, but we also have to look at the future of mobility and the future of casting.
“The days of the internal combustion engine are numbered.”
