Covington, Henry County, Haywood and Peabody will play for state titles this week in Cookeville, and it’s no surprise the four schools sit atop the NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM Bakers Dozen Coaches Poll.
1) Covington (14-0) – defeated Stratford, 20-14 in overtime in the TSSAA state semifinals – Next game: The Chargers will play Alcoa for the Class 3A state championship at 3 p.m., Saturday, in Cookeville.
2) Henry County (13-1) – defeated Hendersonville Beech, 13-7 in the TSSAA state semifinals – Next game: The Patriots will play Knoxville Central for the Class 5A state championship at 7 p.m., Saturday, in Cookeville.
3) Haywood (10-4) – defeated Springfield, 49-14 in the TSSAA state semifinals – Next game: The Tomcats will play Greeneville for the Class 4A state championship at 3 p.m., Thursday, in Cookeville.
4) Peabody (13-1) – defeated Waverly, 35-21 in the TSSAA state semifinals – Next game: The Golden Tide will play Trousdale County for the Class 2A state championship at 11 a.m., Thursday, in Cookeville.
5) Huntingdon (12-1)
6) Waverly (10-3) – lost to Peabody, 35-21, in the TSSAA Class 2A state semifinals – season complete
7) Lake County (12-2) – lost to Cornersville, 21-8, in the Class 1A state playoffs – season complete
8) Dyersburg (12-1)
9) North Side (8-5)
10) Riverside (11-2)
11) Milan (8-5)
12) South Side (10-2)
13) McNairy Central (9-3)
