COVID-19 positive test results average 11 per day in last 7 days in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department has received positive test results for 77 more cases of COVID-19 since July 14, 2021. We now have 11,682 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The health department has recently seen a spike in cases. Our Epidemiology staff have linked some of these new cases to summer travel and household contacts.

“We encourage people who have not received their COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated as soon as possible,” Regional Director Kim Tedford said. “We know the Delta variant is here based on the representative sampling done through CDC, but currently have no documented cases of Delta in Madison County. Based on studies thus far, we know COVID-19 vaccines offer protection against Delta and other variants. The Delta variant is highly transmissible. The only way to help stop the transmission is by being vaccinated.”

Our Epidemiology staff is reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.
