Corey Currie looks to bring community together when new show airs on NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, Sunday

Corey Currie, a native of West Tennessee and Jackson-Madison County School System employee, goes live from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., Sundays, on NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, with the ‘Corey Be Frank Show.’

According to Corey, ‘The Corey Be Frank Show’ derived from Corey’s desire to not only give honor to his father for the lessons he taught, but also the tools he was given to be the best man he could possibly be – as a husband, father, friend, and productive citizen in society.

“I’ll utilize these teachings to not only share information ‘frankly,’ but make sure that the information shared and discussed with listeners, produces a better understanding of various cultures, our community, ultimately breaking down the barriers of divisiveness that keep us stagnant, and arriving at a place of unity that reveals to us that we are more alike than we are different,” Corey said, “The CBF will look to accomplish these goals by focusing on local issues, leaders, and recognizing those unsung heroes throughout the region.”

This will include special guests in the studio, telephone interviews, accepting calls, texts, and recognizing the “Servant of the Day” of which Corey describes as ‘SOD.’

“The thought behind the ‘SOD’ is the act of how sod is laid, at new construction sites – one square at a time – and with a little watering it ultimately becomes a solid lawn without the original separation due to the individual squares,” he said, “I view that process of how all of the aforementioned unsung heroes work together to create a solid, seamless, unified community that’s come together – one person at a time.”

Originally from Brownsville, he has made Jackson home since 1999.

After graduation from Haywood High School in 1993, Corey attended Jackson State Community College for one year, before entering the workforce to help his mother after the death of his father in late 1993.

After a few years of employment at UPS, Corey decided that he would return to college to finish his degree. He enrolled at Bethel College (now Bethel University), while still working at UPS, and not only completed his B.S. in Business Administration, but two years later, he acquired his Master of Business Administration.

After completing his degrees, Corey ended his 13-year career with UPS and has served in roles with Lane College, Madison Haywood Developmental Services, Haywood County Schools, the Tennessee Department of Education.

Corey and wife, Charnetrice have been married 21 years.

They are the parents of two sons – Xavier and Corey, Jr.

Corey also has a very special Goddaughter, Brionna, and has four grandchildren, Zariyah, Zyion, Zoey and Callie.
